Barbados records its highest number of coronavirus cases in one day, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 122.
Out of 248 tests conducted by the Best-Dos Santos Laboratory yesterday, 12 returned positive. Chief Medical Officer Dr. Kenneth George made the revelation at an emergency press conference earlier today.
Nine (9) out of the twelve (12) persons who tested positive were nurses from Ghana who arrived on the island Thursday. The other 86 of the 96 nurses from Ghana all tested negative all the nurses from Ghana went immediately into 14-day quarantine.
The other 3 cases are a Barbadian female who returned to the island on June 29th, two a male visitor who arrived on July 30th and three a Barbadian man who arrived from the United Kingdom with a negative test, but when required to take a test to travel again return the positive test result. Contact tracing has begun in the instance of the last case.
