The Barbados mythological services on Wednesday the 22nd of July 2020 at 11:15 p.m.issued a Hurricane watch for Barbados as they keep a close eye on Tropical Storm Gonzalo.
A Hurricane Watch means that hurricane conditions are possible within the Watch area generally within 48hrs. At 11pm Wednesday night Tropical storm Gonzalo was located near 9.9N 45.9W or about 945 MI East of Barbados with maximum sustained winds of 60 miles per hour or 95 kilometres per hour, present movement west, 270 degrees at 12 miles per hour, minimum central pressure 998 MB or 24.7 inches. Sustained Tropical Storm force winds are expected to spread across Barbados on Saturday 25th of July 2020 increasing to hurricane force by Saturday afternoon, during which time sustained winds from 50 to 75 miles per hour or 80 to 120 kilometres per hour with higher gusts are expected to affect the island. The intensity forecast remains very problematic and of low confidence on one side the cyclone structor light share environment and warm sea surfaces suggest strengthening.
