Police at Black Rock police Station are investigating the death of an adult male who collapsed and died whilst at the entrance to the station office.
Police received a report via telephone after 2 am on Friday 10th April 2020. The caller reported that a man was in the area of Skeete Road, Fairfield, Black Rock, St. Michael throwing stones and bottles, breaking windows damaging cars and houses in the area. The caller further reported that he was shouting profanity and eating and drinking out the garbage cans and behaving quite strangely.
A joint police response was initiated from Black Rock, District A Station, C.I.D and SCATS Departments and on arrival were met by some residents who had held the suspect, he was handed over to the police.
He was transported to the Black Rock Police station and on entering the station office he collapsed on the floor.
Medical assistance was summoned and ambulance arrived shortly afterwards; Medical personnel reported that he was unresponsive and showed no sign of life.
A medical doctor later pronounced death.
The deceased has been identified as John Jose Cave 27 years of Flagstaff, Clapham, St Michael. Police have launched an unnatural death investigation.
