Three charged in altercation on Rockley Main Road

Police in the Bridgetown Division arrested and formally charged three men in connection with several offences which occurred on Saturday the 23rd of May 2020 on Rockley Main Road, Christ Church in an area near to the Chefette Restaurant.

These individuals are:

1. Matthew Anthony Robinson, 39 years, of Parish Land, Christ Church, who is charged with the offences of:

  1. Breach of curfew.

  2. Causing a disturbance.

  3. Throwing stones on a highway.

2. Omar DaCosta Holder 37 years, of Lot 6C Pleasant Hall, Christ Church who is charged with the offences of:

  1. Possession of an offensive weapon.

  2. Possession of cannabis, fear of violence.

  3. Causing a disturbance and throwing stones on a highway.

3. Mario Jabarry Birkett, 30 years, of Balls Land, Christ Church who is charged with the offences of:

  1. Causing a disturbance.

  2. Throwing stones on a highway.

On Saturday, May 23rd 2020, all three accused were on board a route taxi travelling towards Bridgetown when they became involved in an argument. This argument escalated into an altercation which was caught on camera and circulated on social media. The matter was reported to the police and all three men were arrested and subsequently charged for the mentioned offences.

On Monday, May 25th 2020, they all appeared before Chief Magistrate Ian Weekes at the District ‘D’ Magistrates Court. They all pleaded not guilty to the offences and were remanded to HMP Dodds prison and are to reappear at the District ‘A’ Criminal Court on Monday, June 8th 2020.

Accused Matthew Anthony Robinson is also set to reappear at the District ‘D’ Magistrates Court on Monday, June 22nd 2020 concerning the breach of curfew charge.
